Neoteny refers to populations in which individuals become mature without
completing metamorphosis. Thus they remain aquatic and retain their
gills, appearing to be over-sized larvae.
Choose the description that best fits the animal of interest. If none fit go
back to step 2A.
3a. large oval glands behind each eye, dark brown above, lighter below,
may have small irregular spots, no tubercles on feet, no more than 22 cm.
