Key to Spotted Frog Group

Until very recently, biologists only recognized one species in this group, the Spotted Frog. Genetic analysis has revealed that there is really two species. They are virtually identical, but their ranges do not appear to overlap.

24a. extreme southwestern British Columbia

              Rana pretiosa (Oregon Spotted Frog)

24b. elsewhere in British Columbia, Alberta or the Yukon

              Rana luteiventris (Columbia Spotted Frog)
