Key to the Gray Treefrog Group

The Gray Treefrog and Cope's Gray Treefrog are identical in appearance to the eye. In fact, they are quite different. The Gray Treefrog has four sets of chromosomes (tetraploid), while the Cope's Treefrog has the nomal two sets (diploid). While the two species look the same the call of Cope's Treefrog is a much faster trill and the distribution of the two species does not overlap in all areas.
